A set of 8 wooden fruits in a wooden storage box with a wooden knife and board. Children will have endless fun cutting the fruits in half and then making them whole again. A very satisfying and practical activity for little hands.
Start by encouraging your child to take all of the fruits out of the box. One at a time, show your child how to cut one of the pieces of fruit in half and put it back together. Repeat this exercise either with the same piece of fruit initially so that you are cutting the fruit and your child is putting it back together. Say appropriate words such as naming the fruit when you cut it and again when it is made whole again.
Encourage your child to have a go at cutting the fruits by placing your hands over his on the knife until he/she has practised the cutting action several times.
