A set of 8 wooden vegetables in a wooden storage box with a wooden knife and cutting board. Children will have endless fun cutting the vegetables and then making them whole again. A very satisfying activity for little hands
Start by encouraging your child to take all of the vegetables out of the box. One at a time show your child how to cut one of them in half and then put it back together.
Encourage your child to have a go at cutting by placing your hand over his on the knife until he has practised the cutting action several times. Once your child is familiar with the vegetables extend the play by placing all of the pieces of vegetables in a basket and pick out the two halves which go together.
These vegetables are also ideal for early symbolic play such as shopping or feeding a vegetable to a favourite toy. For example - "I am eating carrot - would Teddy like some carrot? Let's give some carrot to teddy - Look Teddy is eating the carrot!".
